Listening Is A Very Powerful Skill

The most valuable, powerful skill  in all the world … when you’re in any sort of “people” business … is …

*** LISTENING ***

The better you listen, the more people will like you, trust you and want to do business with you. As an excellent listener, you’ll be welcome everywhere … and received with open arms by people from every walk of life.  You’ll be popular and well liked, and this skill alone can eventually take you to the very top levels of success …
When you listen to people on a deep level, you earn the right to present your products or business opportunity as the solution to their problems. (Because you took the time to listen to find out what their concerns were first!)

Here are a few tips on how you can become a more effective listener:

1.  Repeat what they said to you. Your prospect will be sure that you’ve been listening closely when you repeat back what they said to you in your own words. This is how you demonstrate (without a doubt) that your prospect is important to you, and that your listening is real and sincere. They’ll respect you because you paid complete  attention to what they told you. (On the other hand, if you assume what your prospect is thinking … or what they’d be interested in … and MISS the mark … you’ll immediately lose their respect!)

2.  Ask questions to clarify their situation … It could be something as simple as:  “Tell me more about that”  or “How does that make you feel?” or “What would you like to change about your situation?” Open ended questions like these give your prospect the chance to express feelings they don’t normally talk about … and instantly “endear” them to  you. (You’ve quickly become a friend who cares!)

3.  Confirm that you understand their situation before you offer your products or business as the solution. “Let me make sure I understand what you’re saying.  You enjoy your job, but you’re not making enough money to make ends meet, so you need to get a second job.  If you could earn an extra $500 a month with a part time business, that would take a lot of pressure off you each month and you wouldn’t need to get a second job, is that correct?” Once they know that you completely understand their needs, selling to them will be a breeze!

4.  Always let your prospect feel in control, by waiting for them to give you permission to proceed.

Using phrases like:
“May I make a suggestion?”
“Would you like me to explain how you can earn money with our program?”
“Would you be interested in hearing how you can earn an extra paycheck each month without leaving your job?”
“I know of some products that might help your situation … would you be interested in hearing about them?”

Make it your goal to become an excellent listener, and watch what happens.  You will make so many friends and become so well liked, that you’ll generate a never-ending source of business and referrals.
